The One Bad Bill Act Law
Too much of anything blinds the masses, and is of service to no one
Do people truly understand what their governments are doing? Is it even possible? In 2010, the Democrat-controlled Congress passed healthcare laws that spanned more than 2,000 pages. Republicans grumbled at the near impossibly of being able to understand all of its provisions and vote on it in so short a period of time.
Fifteen years later, with Republicans in control of Congress, lengthy legislation isn’t bad; big is beautiful. Literally. The puckishly and redundantly named “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” is 1,138 pages and even the summary is 47 pages long. It makes big changes and additions to tax law and government programs spanning a wide range of issues. So complex is this legislation that no single news account can accurately convey what the bill is about.
